Who Is Katie Scott?
Katie Scott is an imaginative, freckle-faced fourth grader who often gets caught up in daydreams. Among her many plans and dreams is the hope of someday having a little brother. She lives in an old condominium building in Washington D.C. with her parents and loyal dog, Jasper.

Katie's dad is in the Navy and has been deployed overseas for one year. Katie has two very close friends who are her constant companions. She loves school and books and hopes to someday travel to distant places.

Katie Scott was born in San Diego on April 10, 1996. She’s in 4th grade at Brady Middle School and lives in Washington D.C. with her mom and dad and awesome dog Jasper. She plays soccer. She loves to read everything. Her favorite things are anything pink and green, Hello Kitty, High School Musical, sleepovers, Halloween, writing poems and especially, special packages from her Grandma Molly.

#1: The Emerald Isle Adventure
The book opens late in October, Katie is getting ready for school, thinking about the postcard her grandma recently sent - announcing a package on its way. Katie enters a typical day, and the reader is introduced to her mom, and her friends. Katie goes to school and learns that her poem (about having a little brother) has won the contest for the 4th grade. She and her friends discuss their plans for a big Halloween party and a slumber party (Katie's first). In all the excitement - Katie rushes home forgetting to check the mail for packages. Her mom makes her favorite dinner (spagetti) to celebrate the big day. Katie remembers that sheforgot to get the mail and races downstairs to find that her package has arrived.

The story takes off when, as a result of the magic soap, Katies bathtub is transformed into the Irish countryside and she is greeted by a leprechaun named Finnegan (Finny).

#2: The Amazon Adventure
As Katie nervously stands in front of the entire school, reading her award winning poem, The Little Brother, she has no idea that she’ll soon be off on another adventure with a toucan named Toco. But not to worry, a lot happens to Katie before she takes off to beautiful Brazil.
